All About Skin: An 8-hr. Guide For Cosmetologists Offered for Licensees, Licensed by The N.C. State Board of Cosmetic Arts Examiners (Online/Internet & Correspondence) Offered for Licensees - Licensed by The Nevada State Board of Cosmetology (Online/Internet) Offered for Licensees, Licensed by The West Virginia State Board of Barbers and Cosmetologists (Online/Internet) Course Hours: 8 hrs.; Course Eligibility: Cosmetologists (C),Estheticians (E), Teachers (CT, ET) Course Cost: $54.95 for 8 credit hours * $39.95 for 4 credit hours (Course still runs for 8 hrs.) Note: The course price is applicable in North Carolina and West Virginia for all Cosmetologists, Estheticians, and Teachers. If you are an Esthetician in North Carolina, please note that you can take up to 4 hours of CE credit online/correspondence. However, if you are behind with license renewal and need 16 hours, you are able to take this 8 hr. online course - as long as no more than half of your hours required are online/correspondence. Licensees in West Virginia need 4 hours per year to renew their license. Therefore, this course price is reduced if only 4 hrs. are required as well. Please confirm with your respective State Boards of Cosmetology your hours required for licensure, and how many hours you are able to take face-to-face and online/correspondence. Course Objective: This course is designed as an 8-hour Online (Internet-based) course for Cosmetologists, Estheticians, and Teachers (CT, ET). This comprehensive course addresses the many aspects of skin including: (1) the skin as the body’s largest organ and its system functions, as well as other organs of the body and their functions; (2) the composition of the skin – (a) skin anatomy and (b) physiology; (3) the facts about “problem skin” and various elements that affect the skin such as: (a) skin disorders, (b) diseases, (c) contraindications, allergies, and the like; (4) the identification of skin types; (5) the sun, various rays from sun, and how to protect the skin from the sun; and (6) current trends in skincare, and services offered; as well as (7) sanitation standards for skincare. Various objectives of how to care for and treat different skin types are included as well. Because cosmetologists in North Carolina are able to work with esthetics-related services, this course will serve as a comprehensive guide that strives to provide advanced education regarding the skin and esthetics. There will also be an assessment of learning exercise at the end of the course – (with true/false answer options).
