Lesson Objective:

This course is designed as a 2-hour Online (Internet-based) or Correspondence course which focuses on – sanitation, cleanliness, and the safety of the salon and/or spa setting. In greater detail, this proposed course focuses on two (II) Modules which highlight the following:


*The definition of sanitation and the various levels of decontamination;


* The discussion of pathogens, micro-organisms, and disease-causing elements;


* Regulations regarding material safety data (MSDS), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA); and State Boards of Cosmetology;


*Detailed information regarding the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and the "Machine Class" in which beauty professionals can use as sole practitioners (not under the supervision of a physician, or medical professional);


*Tips & checklists that can aid professionals in the beauty industry - in providing a more safe and sanitary salon spa setting;


*There is also a review of the N.C. Sub-chapter 14H Sanitation Rules and Regulations;


*From a "safety perspective," discussion will also highlight various rules and regulations in regard to items that are not allowed in the salon and spa setting (such as MMA); as well as procedures that are not allowed in the salon spa setting as well (such as skincare procedures that penetrate the dermis).
